Horsham YMCA 4 - 2 Leatherhead
The Tanners unbeaten run went the shape of a pear this afternoon. Despite holding the lead twice through goals from Greg Andrews and then Tommy Hutchings, we weren't able to hold on. No doubt the official report will tell all.
Saturday 27th February 18.00

Update - YMCA on, Reserves off (but...)
Latest update is that YMCA have advised game is on, no pitch inpsection planned. The Reserves game at Fetcham Grove this afternoon is OFF, but a hastily arranged friendly against Epsom & Ewell will take place on the back field behind the Grove with a kick-off time of 2.30pm.

It's fun to play at the...
Horsham YMCA v Leatherhead - Ryman League Division One South - Saturday 27th February 3pm
No news from Horsham YMCA so at the moment it looks like today's league game is proceeding. A chance for the Tanners to wipe the 6-2 home defeat a few weeks ago from the memory banks and maintain the push up the table. Directions here.
Saturday 27th February 09.30

Good news indeed
Leatherhead Football Club are very pleased to announce that star central defender Chris Boulter has signed a two-year contract with the club.
Football secretary Geoff Corner commented "everyone at the club has been very impressed by not only Chris's consistent displays on the field but by his attitude off it, which is a great example to the other players. We are trying to build a team that will get us into the Ryman Premier, and we need to get our best players committing themselves to the club. Chris is only 26 and his best years are still in front of him. He has signed until May 2011 with a one year option.
The club are working very closely with manager Mick Sullivan to ensure that we are all heading in the same direction and feel this is a positive move."

Guess what
Yup, tonight's cup game at Fleet Town has been called off due to excessive water on the pitch. This is now getting beyond a joke. We'll try again next Thursday (4th March). Onto Horsham YMCA on Saturday for a league game. Hopefully.

Cup trail
Fleet Town v Leatherhead - Isthmian League Cup quarter-final - Thursday 25th February 7.45pm
At the moment it looks like tonight's cup tie with Fleet is proceeding, but there is a lot of rain forecast for this afternoon, so watch this space for any updates (or the Twitter window on the right). Let's hope it goes ahead and the travelling Tanners have something to celebrate.
Thursday 25th February 07.15

Game off
This evening's league fixture against Corinthian-Casuals has been called off because of a waterlogged pitch. Stay warm and dry at home! Watch this space about Thursday's Isthmian League Cup quarter-final clash at Fleet Town.

Tolworth toil
Corinthian-Casuals v Leatherhead - Ryman League Division One South - Tuesday 23rd February 7.45pm
Hopefully tonight's game will go ahead as we are rapidly running out of Tuesdays to play on before the season has to end on the 24th April. There will be a pitch inpsection at 12 noon today to see if this evening's game can go ahead, looking at the weather forecast you wouldn't bet your house on it. Watch this space (and the Tweeter window on the right).
Tuesday 23rd February 07.30

Update
Saturday's postponed game against Walton & Hersham will now be played on Tuesday 13th April.
Monday 22nd February 17.45

Game off
This afternoon's fixture against Walton & Hersham has been called off because the Fetcham Grove pitch is too wet in some places, too frozen in others.
The reserve game away at Ashford (Middx) is still on.
Saturday 20th February 11.50

Swans by the river
Leatherhead v Walton & Hersham - Ryman League Division One South - Saturday 20th February 3pm
If it goes ahead this could be a real treat. The Swans are there or thereabouts in play-off terms, the Tanners are unbeaten in five and on a roll. The only trouble is the weather. There will be a pitch inspection at the Grove at 11.45am, but the considered view is that the chances are less than 50/50. Watch this space or maybe the Twitter window for an update as soon as I hear in the morning.

Youth tonight is off
Tonight's u-18 Youth game against Lewes is postponed as the River Lane pitch lives up to it's name.

Mick reflects...
After last night's stunning win over Worthing, manager Mick Sullivan cautions against getting carried away:
" We are getting spoilt with good performances at the moment along with good honest graft from every individual. The team spirit is at an all time high which shows on the field of play. I really hope the boys don't get complacent with our good run, as Walton & Hersham will be a different prospect - very strong and powerful and with their own ambitions to get in the play-offs - so it's a very big test for us this Saturday. Players will need to show their character if we mean to get into the top six this season.
As for the injuries, Marc Elston has a thigh strain picked up last night - not sure regarding him this Saturday.
On the positive front Dom O'Shea and Kev Terry should be involved this weekend and maybe Matt Francis who had a sore groin. Hassan Nyang should be ready to get back involved next week after a longer term injury with his calf. Last but not least, we have a tough programme next week with four games in quick succession so the whole squad will be used to its full potential and hopefully some will make a clear statement to the Management team.
"

In other news, the Isthmian League Cup quarter-final game away against Fleet Town will be played next week on Thursday 25th February.
Wednesday 17th February 18.15

Sussex best
Worthing 1 - 3 Leatherhead
A quality performance from the Tanners at play-off contenders Worthing. First-half goals from Greg Andrews, Tommy Hutchings and Marc Elston seal the points and extend the unbeaten run. The rise up the league table continues. Full report here.
Tuesday 16th February 21.40

Reserves OFF
Not surprisingly given the amount of rain we've had today, the Fetcham Grove pitch is unplyable so the Reserves can stay at home and keep warm and dry, whilst watching the Twitter updates on the first team game at Worthing (see right)
Tuesday 16th February 18.00

Rebel yell
Worthing v Leatherhead - Ryman League Division One South - Tuesday 16th February 7.45pm
A tough midweek journey for the Tanners, but we have been showing real spirit, fight and not a small amount of skill over the last few games, so we should have nothing to fear. The Rebels have been play-off contenders most of the season, so this will be a good test for the men in green.

Super Sunday
Latest Leatherhead Sunday exploits are here.
Sunday 14th February 18.00

Spread the love
Latest from Camp Henders is positive. He has not done a Cashley Cole and broken his foot. The x-ray showed that it is badly bruised, and Henders is confident that he will be back playing in four to six weeks.
Sunday 14th February 10.45

On a level
Burgess Hill Town 1 - 1 Leatherhead
A hard fought draw for the Tanners, we had some great chances to score - Tommy and Marc Elston both managed to put the ball over the bar from three yards when it would have been easier to score. Mind you, the Hillians had some opportunities as well. But the unbeaten run goes on, but at some cost as we lost Henders first half to what looked a very painful foot injury. Report here.
The Reserves drew 2-2 at home to Basingstoke Town.

Saturday 13th February 18.15

Update part 3
Still no news from BHT so assume the game is on. Directions can be found here.
For those not wanting to travel the Reserve team game at Fetcham Grove is definitely ON.
Don't forget you can watch score updates on this afternoon's game in the Twitter panel to the right.
Saturday 13th February 09.30

Update part 2
Leatherhead v Burgess Hill Town - Saturday 13th February - 3pm
No news from Burgess Hill Town which is a good sign.
The reserves face an 11am pitch inspection at Fetcham Grove.
Watch this space!
Friday 12th February 16.00

Update
The draw for the Quarter-Finals of the Isthmian League Cup (a.k.a Championship Manager Cup) has been made, and we are away to Fleet Town. Date still to be advised. The other ties are:
Croydon Athletic vs. Lowestoft Town
Concord Rangers/Billericay Town or Sittingbourne vs. Wealdstone
Aveley vs. Canvey Island

The reserves have arranged the next round of their Suburban League Cup campaign - it's against Sutton United and will take place next Tuesday 16th February at Fetcham Grove.

In terms of this weekend's games, the Fetcham Grove pitch is pretty solid so there's likely to be a pitch inspection for the reserves game against Basingstoke Town. No reports yet from Burgess Hill Town for the first team's game, but I think there's been snow down that way and it's still pretty chilly. So watch this space...
Thursday 11th February 19.30

Too casual
Leatherhead 1 - 0 Corinthian-Casuals
These are the sorts of games that you need to win if you're going to push up the table, and before Christmas we might have struggled to hold out. But this is the new Tanners - a side that works hard for each other, digs in deep and grinds out excellent victories like tonight's. The Casuals looked good on the ball and were pacy upfront, but truth to tell we restricted them to only half chances. The midfield worked their socks off, as did Tommy up front. Simmo is now on some sort of goal streak, his calmly placed, side-footed volley breaking the deadlock just before half-time. Marc could have put us out of our misery just before the end, but a bobble put paid to that. Onwards and upwards, we travel to Burgess Hill Town on Saturday in good heart. Report here.
Tuesday 9th February 22.00

Update
As per Twitter message below, the Ryman League game against Corinthian-Casuals is on tonight - kick-off 7.45pm as usual. I will try and Twitter any scores tonight for those who can't get down to the Grove.

In other news, the club has released Josh Smith and has signed Luke Pigden from Godalming Town. Luke is a midfield player and was previously with AFC Wimbledon. He goes straight into the squad tonight.

Lastly, I have updated the upcoming Youth team fixtures.

As I can't access the website during the day, I have set up Twitter so I can update you immediately on pitch inspections and scores etc.

Mick reflects + other news
I spoke with manager Mick Sullivan about Saturday's 7-1 demolition of Whitstable:
" I was very pleased with the performance on Saturday even though it was a bit frantic to begin with as Whitstable gave as good as they got. I think we deserved a little bit of luck and then we made our own to score the seven goals. I was dissapointed we conceded a goal as the defence deserved a clean sheet - having said that the ref had a major part to play but to be fair to him he had a decent game otherwise.
We mustn't get complacent now as a manager I've seen too many poor performances after the 'Lord Mayor's show'. I totally believe this squad wants to make amends after such an inconsistent start this season and they want to prove to the supporters they have desire and skill.
I hope we can carry this on to propel us up to the fifth play-off spot. As for the cup, again a little bit of luck and a home draw and who knows? Last but not least, I must pay tribute to the squad players who come in and do their business for the first team from the Reserve team set up."

Ryman League Cup quarter-final draw update - apparently a second team have played an ineligible player so the draw has been delayed until later this week - probably Wednesday.

Pitch update for tomorrow night's game against Cornthian-Casuals - pitch still pretty wet, no decision on whether a pitch inspection will be needed, Gerald will take a look first early tomorrow morning. Watch this space (although I won't be able to update till about 6pm).

U-18s Youth team lost 2-4 against KIngstonian yesterday, read the report here.

A sign of the times...
A very interesting notice was posted on the Ryman League website last night about the leaders of our division Folkestone. It will impact all the teams in the division especially those chasing promotion and a play-off place. Read it here.
Sunday 7th February 09.30

Oystermen prised apart
Leatherhead 7 - 1 Whitstable Town
It was one of those afternoons, the match report (which is here) will give the glorious details, but in the first half in particular, the Tanners played with a fluency and above all tempo that at times was a joy to watch. 4-0 at half time was game over, the second forty-five was a stroll, but man of the match must go to Matt Francis who bagged four. How Tommy failed to score is a mystery but his work rate was phenomenal. As was Elliott Thompson's, who put in another tireless performance. Marc Elston was a constant threat, Simmo ruled the roost in the pudding, sorry, middle of the park. The Oystermen were very poor, but you've still got to do the business, which is exactly what the Tanners did today - with added relish.
The game on Tuesday evening against Corinthian-Casuals must be a bit of a doubt, watch this space for news.
Saturday 6th February 17.30

Game ON!!
The Fetcham Grove pitch has passed this morning's inspection, so today's match against Whitstable Town goes ahead. I don't think it's going to be possible to play the 'beautiful game' today, but as long as it's three points, who cares? See you there!
By the way, the draw for the quarter-finals of the Isthmian League Cup has been delayed as one of the teams (not us!) that has got through has been found to have played an
ineligible player. So we'll have to wait a bit longer to see who we will be playing while they sort that out.
Saturday 6th February 11.30

Tomorrow's game 50/50
Leatherhead v Whitstable Town - Ryman League Division One South - 3pm
Hopefully we will entertain the Oystermen at the Grove tomorrow afternoon, but at the moment the pitch is very wet, so there will be a pitch inspection at 11.15 Saturday morning to determine whether the game goes ahead. Let's hope so, and if it does let's hope the Tanners continue their run of good form. Watch this space.
Friday 5th February 20.30

Mick reflects + other news
I caught up with Mick Sullivan today and spoke to him about last night's fantastic Isthmian League cup win away at Godalming, here's what he had to say:
"It was a very disjointed first half performance but I suppose that's to be expected when missing two of the three central midfielders who can put their foot on the ball and control the game. But the squad tonight showed real character and rolled up their sleeves in the second half, and put in a disciplined, dogged type of performance and ground out a result - which is what was needed against a strong physical team like Godalming.
It was nice to see that we can mix it with these types of teams as it's not always possible to play the 'beautiful game' on a muddy pitch. I'm sure we are going to need a few more of these types of performances to get some more points on the board.

I'm very proud of the squad tonight as they could've folded under the pressure of the first half but there's a belief in the camp at the moment we can achieve something this season with a little bit of luck."

In terms of who we might possibly meet in the quarter-finals of the Isthmian League Cup, here's who's left:
Aveley
Lowestoft or Maidstone or Tilbury
Concord or Billericay
Canvey Island
Fleet or Horsham YMCA
Walton & Hersham or Croydon Athletic
Tonbridge or Wealdstone

We will play one of the southern teams in the quarter finals then go north or south in the semis. Not sure when the draw will take place.

Updated fixtures for the reserves and u-18s (see fixtures tabs)
Wednesday 3rd Feb 18.15

Town tamed
Godalming Town 0 -1 Leatherhead
After a tricky first half, where the Tanners did well to go into the break with the score 0-0, the second half saw a reinvigorated Tanners who looked much more up for the fight. With Henders on for the injured Dan Dean, and Hassan replaced by big Michael Corbett, we looked a much more potent force, and could have scored about five, Tommy had a couple of glorious chances that went just wide, as did Beero. As it was, Marc Elston's glorious shot from a Tommy cross was enough to settle it. We might have rode our luck at times, but this was the Tanners at their battling best, and we can take a lot of confidence from beating the high-flying Town on their own (bumpy) turf. The draw for the quarter-finals has yet to take place - as soon as we know who we will face I'll post it on here! Report here.
Tuesday 2nd February 22.00

Tonight's Reserve game off
The Fetcham Grove pitch is too soggy so tonight's reserve team encounter against Whyteleafe has been postponed.
And just to note that tonight's first team game at Godalming kicks-off at 7.30pm (not the usual 7.45pm)
Tuesday 2nd February 17.00

Heading south
Godalming Town v Leatherhead - Isthmian League Cup 4th Round - tonight 7.30pm
Yes, the Tanners head for a tasty tie against Chuck's high-flying
Godalming team. Not usually a place where we have much joy to be honest, but it's a cup game so who knows. If we play to our true potential (as we have recently) then it could be interesting. Extra time...penalties...
Tuesday 2nd February 07.00

Dates for your diary
Ryman League match away at Ramsgate is now on Tuesday 30th March. Also, we travel to play Cove (Combined Counties Premier side) in the Southern Combination Cup 2nd Round on Thursday 4th March.
Monday 1st February 20.00

Rams raid
Croydon Athletic 3 - 2 Leatherhead
By all accounts we were unlucky not to come away with at least a point. But the high-flying big-spending Rams bagged all the points and we are left nursing thoughts of "what might have been". Nonetheless it was an encouraging performance by the Tanners against a team who will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. Report here.
Sunday 31st January 13.00

Croydon Athletic is all systems "Go"
Word from Geoff is that the referee has given the all clear, so the journey over by the players and officials wasn't wasted. Game well and truly ON. Supporters best get moving then...
Saturday 30th January 13.45

Reserve game given all clear
The sun is shining on Fetcham Grove and the pitch has defrosted. Game on! News from Croydon as soon as I have it.
Saturday 30th January 12.00

Are the games on today? Read this...
Here's what's happening. All the players and officials are being asked to turn up at Croydon Athletic, as the referee will make a decision on whether the pitch is playable at 1.15pm - hopefully this will give it the longest possible opportunity to defrost.
The reserves game at Fetcham Grove against Ashford (Middx) is in doubt, again because of a frozen pitch, and there will be a pitch inspection and decision at 11am.
Watch this space for the outcome of both decisions.
Saturday 30th January 10.00

Rams away!
Croydon Athletic v Leatherhead - Ryman League Division One South - Sat 30th Jan 3pm
I know this is a trip that all Tanners fans look forward to. Yes, we are off to play the big-spending, high-flying Rams. We go with real hope based on two tremendous performances in our last two games. Let's hope it continues. I won't be there because I'm preparing for Band Night back at the Grove Bar, but no doubt Dickie will keep me abreast of the situation (incidentally Band Night is sold out so if you haven't got a ticket you won't get in).
Friday 29th January 22.00

Tanners on YouTube
A kind supporter of Bognor filmed the game on Tuesday night, see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgEDIbubt6w. Unfortunately he missed the best goal of the match (Marc Elston's) but Tommy's has been caught in all it's glory (fast forward to 5 mins 45 secs).
Thursday 28th January 20.00

Mick reflects
I spoke to Mick Sullivan today about last night's encouraging victory against Bognor, here's what he had to say:
"Again the players gave it their all against stronger opposition last night and at times outplayed a side that likes to pass the ball around. We now need to focus ourselves against Croydon Athletic - one of our toughest tests - on Saturday. If we come away with another solid performance with some sort of result we might well have turned the corner to push up the league table.
I know the players really believe they can push for the play-offs but I think it will depend on how fit we keep the squad, and with a little bit of luck we don't pick up too many injuries to key players along the way with so many games on the horizon.
But I do believe we have enough quality playing in our Reserve side along with players out on loan to cover when needed.
"
Report of the game here. To see some great photos of the Bognor game go to:

Love on the Rocks
Leatherhead 2 - 0 Bognor Regis Town (Isthmian League Cup 3rd round)
An emphatic and convincing win for the Tanners at Fetcham Grove. Solid in defence, creative in midfield, pacy and troublesome up front. What more could you want? Well work rate would be nice, and we got that in abundance too. What a difference a week in football makes. Two games in a row now with no goals conceded, and decent football being played. Bognor offered very little so we shouldn't get carried away, but the basis for moving up the table is surely there. Croydon Athletic away on Saturday will surely provide stiffer opposition than the limp Rocks performance, but if we stick to this then we'll be just fine. Our reward for the victory is an away tie in the fourth round against high-flying Godalming Town - next Tuesday 2nd February. Report here.
Wednesday 27th January 07.00

Rocks away!
Tanners v Bognor Regis Town - Isthmian League Cup 3rd round
After numerous postponements, the Tanners finally get the opportunity to pit themselves against higher league opposition. The Rocks are in Ryman Premier, their messageboard seems to think it will be a straightforward win for them, let's hope it's one of those special Tuesday nights at Fetcham Grove! Kick-off 7.45pm, see you there.
Tuesday 26th January 07.00

Youth victorious
The first team weren't the only winners at the weekend. The U-18s warmed up for their Ryman League cup tie against Woking this Thursday with a rather splendid 6-0 victory over Epsom Eagles. For a full report go to the
U
-18s tab on the Fixtures tab above.
Monday 25th January 19.00

Mick reflects on yesterday's victory
Here's what manager Mick Sullivan had to say about yesterday's win against Chatham Town:
" I'm really pleased the team responded to the changes. They played the way I've wanted them to play from the start of the season - high tempo football with work rate. I reminded them it's now got to become consistent and not just a one-off which has happened before. I can only hope they realise what a good squad of players they are, and progress to fulfil their potential. We've got to repeat yesterday's performance against Bognor and Croydon Athletic - only then will I know we have turned the corner."

Fixtures pages for u-18 Youth (cup tie against Woking this coming Thursday at River Lane) and Leatherhead Sunday (includes report of today's win) have been updated.
Sunday 24th January 19.00

Tanners stop Chats in tracks
Leatherhead 3 - 0 Chatham Town
A game which was everything Tuesday wasn't. Commitment, energy, pace, movement and passing along the ground. Tommy was always a handful, Marc skilful and pacy, the back four looked solid, Simmo ran the show from midfield - he was imperious. A game to restore your faith - and hopefully the attendances. Report here. And the reserves gained an excellent point with a 1-1 draw at Tooting & Mitcham.
Sunday 24th January 8.30

Game on
The Fetcham Grove has passed it's fitness test so it's all systems go for today's encounter against Chatham Town. See you at 3pm.
Saturday 23rd January12.00

The Chats are coming (perhaps)
Tanners v Chatham Town Saturday 23rd January 3pm
There will be a pitch inspection tomorrow morning at 11am to see if the Fetcham Grove pitch is playable. Watch this space!
Friday 22nd January 16.30

Quiz answers
Just to take your mind off last night, here are the answers to the recent quiz questions (see below):
Name the two Leatherhead players (and the opponents) to have scored hat tricks in the noughties yet not finished on the winning side?
Answer - Dave Stevens @ Burgess Hill (Feb 08) & Tommy Hutchings @ Chipstead (Aug 08)
How many Leatherhead hat tricks have there been in the noughties?
20........or 21 if you include Alex Inglethorpe v Dorking in the Advertiser Trophy (2001), or 22 if you also include Alex Inglethorpe v Bookham in a pre-season friendly (2003). This is assuming that 4 and 5 goal hauls count as hat-tricks.

Which Leatherhead player holds the record for most goals in a game in the noughties?
Alex Inglethope 5 @ Wivenhoe (Jan 02)
Which game saw players from both sides record hat tricks?
Burgess Hill Town v Leatherhead (Feb 08) Steve Harper (no relation) and Dave Stevens

There's always Saturday
Tanners 2 - 6 Horsham YMCA
This was not the 'kick-start' to the season we were looking for. Apart from the first 20 minutes, we always looked second best and got severely punished by a lively YMCA side. Report here.
Tuesday 19th 22.00

Game on!!
Tanners v Horsham YMCA - tonight 7.45pm
Pitch OK, let's play football!
Tuesday 19th Jan 18.45pm

Update on tomorrow's game plus forthcoming event
The news from the Grove is encouraging - the levels on the Mole have receded, the pitch has no surface water, so the general consensus is that in the absence of any more significant rain, we could actually see a game of football at Fetcham Grove. Horsham YMCA provide the opposition, let's hope we can resume the season with a victory.

Back due to popular demand, Saturday 30th January sees the next Band Night at the Grove Bar. And what a line-up we have.

Some of you may remember local old boys Macavity's Cat, well they're back playing their home town for the first time in years! Plus local favourites The Witch Doktors and Aeroplane Blondes, with up and coming Epsom band The Traffic kicking off the evening in style.

Tickets £7 in advance from David Pope on 07500 118005 or e-mail me on david.pope3@ntlworld.com.

Another update
Mick Sullivan told me that there was another good turn out for training last night with 34 players again including some of our U18s. There was a good fitness session in the snow, then the players used the club house for a team event football quiz. There are some photos of this if you go to 'The Club' drop down along the top and go to the 'Photos' tab. Or just click here.
There will be more training at Wilson's School again this Saturday from 12noon till 2pm in readiness for the Horsham YMCA game at home this Tuesday. The only injuries at the moment are Kev Terry and Hassan Nyang who is recovering from calf strain picked up in the Whyteleafe game on Boxing Day.
And don't forget the quiz below!!
Friday 15th Jan 8.30

Update and a Tanners Trivia question for you
Firstly, the snow is thawing rapidly at the Grove so Dave can get to work on it in readiness for the next first team home game - against Horsham YMCA on Tuesday evening. Apparently Dave put his fork in the pitch in a few places today, and the ground was soft underneath which means the frost has come out. Also the River Mole is quite low which means the pitch will hopefully drain OK. It might not stay that way of course when all that snow on top of Boxhill begins to melt. Whatever, there's likely to be a pitch inspection on Tuesday afternoon so watch this space.
Next, and not surprisingly given the above, Saturday's reserve team game at the Grove against Basingstoke Town is cancelled (the Suburban League has already postponed all games on Saturday).
Lastly, to keep your brains tuned into the Tanners, here's a tricky trivia question to test your Tanners knowledge (courtesy of Mr Richard Wilkinson):

  1. Name the two Leatherhead players (and the opponents) to have scored hat tricks in the noughties yet not finished on the winning side?
  2. How many Leatherhead hat tricks have there been in the noughties?
  3. Which Leatherhead player holds the record for most goals in a game in the noughties?
  4. Which game saw players from both sides record hat tricks?

A free pint of beer is on offer to the first person who e-mails me withall the correct answers! My e-mail address is david.pope3@ntlworld.com. Get thinking and good luck!

Update from Mick
I thought I'd get an update from Mick, here's what he had to say:
"There isn't much to report really. All I can say is that the players are training hard and focused on the next game we play. I'm trying to change the mind set of the players that the season is starting again and there's plenty of points to play for. We haven't given up hope on achieving fifth spot. There's plenty of competition for places now, and our only injury doubt (Kev Terry) should be fit before we play another game. We have had two great training sessions - one at the club last Tuesday when 35 players turned up including the promising players from the u-18s. They will be brought in towards the end of the season to have a look at the ones we think can make the transition. And on Saturday we had a good team bonding session at Wilson's School in Wallington where Mark Simmonds is the PE teacher (as per photos below)."

Snow joke...Merstham game OFF but players are keeping fit!
Confirmation that the game at Fetcham Grove tomorrow night is off, it has been resecheduled for Tuesday 2nd March. Also the Reserves cup game against Mole Valley has fallen victim to the weather, it will now be played on Tuesday 26th January at Cobham FC.
Here's a few photos to remind us what Fetcham Grove looks like, looks lovely doesn't it, pity we can't play football on it!

And here' some of the players at their indoor training session last week - Mick has got them all working hard to stay fit, but it would be great to kick a ball in anger wouldn't it?

Hopefully the big thaw is on it's way, I wonder if the game away to Corinthian-Casuals could be a go-er? Watch this space.

Yup no surprises, tomorrow's match against Fleet isn't going to happen. A bit of snow on the pitch. Let's see how it goes for Tuesday's league encounter with Merstham, but don't hold your breath. Watch this space...

Bognor Match - CANCELLED (as has the Reserves game)
The first teams cup game against Bognor Regis Town tonight at Fetcham Grove has been called off due to a frozen pitch. As has the Reserves game at Corinthian-Casuals. Stay in the warm!
Tuesday 5th Jan 10.00am

Bognor match - update
There will be a 12.30pm pitch inspection at Fetcham Grove tomorrow. I won't be able to update this site until about 5.30pm, but check it out before you set off. It's not looking promising though...
Monday 4th Jan 17.30

Reserves - rearranged fixture
The Reserve's postponed Surrey Premier Cup tie against local rivals Mole Valley will now be played next Tuesday 12th January at Cobham FC.
Monday 4th Jan 18.45

Both Tanners games OFF today
You can all stay in the warm because both the reserve game at Fetcham Grove and the first team match at Whyteleafe have been called off due to frozen pitches. The referee arrived early at Whyteleafe for the inspection but after a quick walk on the surface he declared that there was no point waiting until 12.30 as it was clearly unplayable and was very unlikely to improve. So the Tanners again go without a match, next up is the Ryman League cup game versus Bognor Regis Town on Tuesday night, but seeing the forecast for the next few days that must also be doubtful. Anyway, watch this space for news.
Saturday 2nd January 11.40

Pitch Inspection at Whyteleafe
At 12.30pm. Watch this space.

Bring on the 'Leafe
Whyteleafe v Leatherhead - Saturday 2nd January k.o. 3pm
Tomorrow sees the Tanners make the short trip to the Church Road home of Whyteleafe. A chance to gain quick revenge for the home defeat only last Saturday (although it seems a lot longer). Let's hope that we can start the New Year as we mean to go on - with a win and a much needed three points! Directions can be found here. I guess there must be some doubt about the playability of the pitch - any news will be posted here as soon as I have it.

Club update

Player latest from Mick Sullivan -

Mark Simmons played in the squad game last week against Three Bridges and played well but unfortunately aggravated or tweaked his knee (not the injury he has been out with for a while).

Mark Elson is progressing OK but we don't want to rush him back too early.

Craig Bradshaw has been released due to personal problems and I felt he needed more motivation else where, we have left on good terms.

Released players -  Dean Gunner to Banstead; Zak Graham not known, Julian Beko Owuso trialing at Rushden & Diamonds. All have left on good terms and are welcome back.  Kwebena Agyei has gone on 1 months loan to Chertsey.

Our new first team coach is Mark Williams who was the Raynes Park Vale Manager - welcome Mark!
